PROSPECT — The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department is seeking donations to buy a LUCAS device.
A LUCAS device is an automated chest compression machine that delivers chest compressions to sudden cardiac arrest patients.
The department is seeking donations because many of its typical fundraising activities, including its annual flower sale and selling food at town events, have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We know that the uncertainty of this year has caused a financial burden on many families, but please know that your donation to the Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect will be put directly towards ways in which we can further help our community and save lives,” the department wrote in a Facebook post.
Over the last few years, the department bought automated external defibrillators and two new sets of Jaws of Life through the community’s support.
To donate, people can mail checks to The Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect, P.O. Box 7001, Prospect, CT 06712. For information, call the department at 203-758-5445.
