Nearly a week after Tropical Storm Isaias struck, power outages still linger throughout the state.

As of about 9:30 a.m. Monday, Eversource reported 87,612 of its customers, about 6.8%, were still without power. Eversource, provides power to most of the state. United Illuminating, which serves 17 mostly shoreline towns, reported Monday morning that 2,507, or less than 1%, of its customers still didn’t have power.

Utility crews made significant progress over the weekend restoring power in Beacon Falls, Naugatuck and Prospect. As of Monday morning, there were five customers in Beacon Falls, 190 in Naugatuck and 73 in Prospect without power, according to Eversource.

In a message to residents Sunday, Naugatuck Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess said many of the outages that remained were more complex situations involving other utilities, such as Frontier and Comcast. Officials were working with the utility companies to solve each problem, he said.

Naugatuck residents can report new incidents of trees and wires down to the Naugatuck Fire Department at 203-720-7083 or email unifiedcommand@naugatuck-ct.gov.

Prospect Mayor Robert Chatfield said as of Monday morning only a section of Bronson Road remained closed. He said the road is closed due to phone wires across the street and the residents there have power.

Prospect’s recycling center at 157 Plank Road will be open Tuesday and Thursday for brush only, and Wednesday and Saturday for normal business. The center, which is for residents only, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In Beacon Falls, Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 reported Sunday that West Road and Burton Road were fully open, and one lane of Old Turnpike Road was open.

Matthies Memorial Park and the trails at Lantern Ridge in Beacon Falls remained closed Monday due to extensive damage from Tropical Storm Isaias, the town announced.

There are numerous wires and trees down in Matthies Memorial Park Pines Bridge Road, the announcement said. The Beacon Falls Recreation Complex on Pent Road and Toby’s Pond off South Main Street are open.
