A statewide primary will be held Tuesday.

The only candidates on the ballot in Naugatuck, Prospect and Beacon Falls are in the U.S. Senate race, according to sample ballots. Democrats will have the opportunity to back either former U.S. Representative Christopher Murphy or former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz. Republicans will get to choose between former wrestling executive Linda McMahon and former Congressman Christopher Shays.

Only registered Democrats and Republicans are allowed to vote in the primary. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The polling places in Naugatuck are Cross Street School, 120 Cross St.; Andrew Avenue School, 164 Andrew Ave.; Western School, 108 Pine St.; Central Avenue School, 28 Central Ave.; Maple Hill School, 641 Maple Hill Road; Oak Terrace, 53 Conrad St.; City Hill Middle School, 441 City Hill St.

The polling places in Prospect are the Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect, 26 New Haven Road; Community School, 12 Center St.

The polling place in Beacon Falls is Laurel Ledge School, 30 Highland Ave. Voting will take place in the school’s cafeteria rather than the gymnasium as in the past.
