About 20 percent of Connecticut Light & Power customers in Beacon Falls and Prospect were still powerless as of Friday morning.
According to CL&P’s website, 837 customers in Prospect and 555 customers in Beacon Falls still had no power.
As of 7 a.m., approximately 310,000 CL&P customers statewide had no power, according to a release issued by CL&P.
“We are making progress and all of the crews and our employees are working hard to have 99 percent of all customers back on by Sunday night,” said Jeff Butler, CL&P president and chief operating officer in the release. “We’re also placing a high priority on restoring power to schools and polling locations.”
Today, there are over 1,740 line and tree crews working and more crews continue arriving to assist the effort, the release stated. Crews continue working with Connecticut National Guard units to open roads in the Northwest and Central parts of the state.
According to the Beacon Falls’ town website, the firehouse will continue to serve as the Emergency Operations Center at this time. There were crews working in the areas of Burton Road, Cook Lane, Rice Road, Teresa Road on Thursday morning, but they were withdrawn by CL& P, who has told the town that Lorraine, Back Burton, Edwards, the back side of Sawmill, Rice Lane, Rice Lane Extension, Terese would probably not be restored until Saturday, according to the website.
According to the town of Prospect’s website, a shelter is set up at the fire department where residents can take showers and sleep overnight. Town Hall is also available as a warming station and to charge electronics.
