Police seek information on fatal accident near Naugatuck line

BETHANY — State police are still looking for the driver they say fled the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian on Route 63 Sunday morning.

The accident occurred north of Edwards Road and near the Naugatuck line on Route 63 at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, state police said.

Tony Pires Concalves, 25, of Derby, was struck and killed by a vehicle described as a dark green Jeep Cherokee, likely 1997 to 2001 make. The Jeep possibly has front end damage, including a broken or missing front passenger side headlight and damage to the front bumper and grill damage, police said.

A description of the driver who evaded the accident scene was not available.

State police asked anyone with possible information on the accident to call Troop I at 203-3934200.
