NAUGATUCK — Police are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery earlier this month at the Walmart on New Haven Road.
Police said the victim met the suspect, who was described as a young Hispanic male, in the store’s parking lot on Oct. 10 at about 8 p.m. to sell an iPhone. The two arranged the meeting through Facebook marketplace.
Police said the suspect displayed a silver handgun, then stole the phone and cash from the victim. No injuries were reported.
Police on Wednesday released surveillance photos, which were obtained through the investigation, of a white BMW sedan with tinted windows that police believe the suspect was driving. The body of the sedan appeared to be lowered, police said.
Police asked anyone with information on the suspect or car to call the Naugatuck Police Department at 203-729-5222 or the department’s confidential tip line at 203-720-1010.
Police advised people to remain vigilant when purchasing items online and to meet in a well-lit, public area during the day. Police also encourage people to meet in the department’s parking lot, 211 Spring St., to make such sales.
