Police-badgeNAUGATUCK — Police departments throughout Connecticut are receiving reports of child pornography surfacing on Facebook.

Lt. Bryan Cammarata, spokesman for the Naugatuck Police Department, said in a press release that the department received such a report March 21. The complainant told officers that while scrolling through her news feed on Facebook she found a post containing footage of a small child involved in a sex act, the release said.

It is reported that the feed does not appear as child porn but contains the heading “watch this if you are curious,” according to the release.

The incident in Naugatuck is not an isolated one.

The release stated the case was referred to the FBI, who advised the department that they were currently investigating the incident. The FBI reported they had received numerous complaints of the feed from all over the United States, according to the release.

Numerous other police agencies within Connecticut have recently reported that they have received complaints of the same type, the release stated.

Anyone who observes these posts should report them to police immediately.
