NAUGATUCK — Police have charged a 30-year-old Naugatuck man in connection with the Tuesday robbery of the Subway restaurant on New Haven Road.

Daniel Ellis, of 234 Morning Dove Road, Naugatuck, was charged on a warrant Friday morning while at Waterbury Superior Court with second-degree larceny and second-degree reckless endangerment.

The robbery occurred Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m. Police said Ellis reached over the counter and stole $110 in cash from the register before fleeing the store on foot.

The robbery was the second one in four days at the sandwich shop at 1183 New Haven Road. The Subway was robbed last Friday at about 9 p.m. by a lone male suspect. No one was injured in either robbery.

Ellis is not believed to be the suspect in the first robbery, but police have not ruled it out yet, according to police spokesman Lt. Bryan Cammarata.

Ellis is also facing unrelated charges of second-degree failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Thursday. Police pulled Ellis over shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Maple Street, according to a report. He was found to be wanted on a warrant for failure to appear and a subsequent search of his vehicle found drug paraphernalia, according to police.

While Ellis was being held on these charges, the investigation tied him to the Subway robbery and police obtained an arrest warrant to charge him in connection with the robbery. He was arraigned on all charges Friday morning.
