Police issue warning about potential scam

NAUGATUCK — Police warned residents about a potential scam involving people posing as representatives of Eversource Energy.

The warning comes after police received multiple complaints from residents in the Spring Street area this past weekend. Police said residents reported people claiming to be from Eversource attempted to talk residents into letting them into their homes, and also attempted to get residents to log into their computer accounts to “save them money on their utility bills,” police said.

Police said it appeared the people were not legitimate Eversource employees. Police are asking residents to contact the department at 203-729-5221 as soon as possible if they have this happen to them so officers can make contact with the people to confirm their identities.
