NAUGATUCK — Separate robberies occurred within a half hour of each other Wednesday afternoon in Naugatuck.

The Subway restaurant at 928 Old Waterbury Road near the Waterbury line was robbed by an armed man shortly after 1 p.m. Police said the man displayed a handgun and demanded cash. He fled the store south on Old Waterbury Road, police said. No one was injured.

The Big Y on Bridge Street was robbed at about 1:30 p.m., police said. Police said a white man stole items, and then pushed a security guard out of the way as he fled the store on the foot.

Officers located and arrested the man shortly after the robbery. Police did not release his name as of this post because the man was still being processed.

Police said it doesn’t appear that the robberies are connected, although that possibility is not being ruled out. Both incidents are still under investigation.
