BEACON FALLS — A 24-year-old man reported he was robbed of his cell phone and money while trying to buy marijuana Sunday night, police said.

Police reported the victim was waiting for a car on Beacon Valley Road at about 11 p.m. to buy marijuana. The car pulled up and the driver took money from the man, police said. The driver then asked to use the victim’s cell phone. When the victim gave the driver his cell phone, police said, the passenger in the car pulled out a handgun, stated the cell phone was theirs now, and the men drove off.

No marijuana exchanged hands during the incident, police said.

The two men in the car were described as black, in their 20s and wearing dark-colored clothing, police said. The victim provided police with a description of the car and a partial license plate number, police said. However, that information was not included in a press release at the Connecticut State Police Troop I barracks in Bethany.

The incident remains under investigation.
