NAUGATUCK — Police are investigating an early morning burglary at a liquor store on New Haven Road.

Police said Salem Wine and Liquors, 628 New Haven Road, was broken into at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. The suspects appeared to pry the front door open and stole several bottles of liquor, police said.

The front window of the Allstate Insurance office next to the liquor store was smashed, too. Police believe the suspects broke into the Allstate office before the liquor store, but it’s unclear if anything was taken from the office.

Police said the quality of surveillance footage of the incident is poor, making it difficult to get a description of the suspects and their vehicle.

Police said similar incidents occurred earlier Wednesday morning in Orange and Monroe involving four suspects operating a gray Kia, though it’s unclear if the incidents are related.

The break-ins Wednesday follow a trend of burglaries in the area the past few weeks.

State police said on May 24 two suspects forced open the front door at the Prospect Smoke Shop, 50 Waterbury Road, in Prospect and stole an ATM from the store. State police said the suspects were dressed in all black clothes and left in an unknown vehicle.

In the borough, suspects broke into the Sunoco gas station at 531 North Main St. on May 20 at about 3:16 a.m. On May 16, police said suspects smashed the front glass door at Valley Liquors, 1221 New Haven Road, at about 2:38 a.m. to break into the store.

Naugatuck police asked anyone with information on the burglaries in the borough to call the Naugatuck Police Department at 203-729-5221.
