Police-badgeNAUGATUCK — A borough woman is facing a felony charge after police said she left a toddler unattended for 45 minutes.

The toddler, a girl, was found wandering Friday in the middle of Central Avenue with a small dog, according to police. A tag on the dog’s collar led police to 83 Carroll St., about 150 feet away, the home of 31-year-old Jeannine Lusanga.

Lusanga told police she is the girl’s aunt and was responsible for the child, who was visiting from out of state. Lusanga told police she did not know the girl had left the home.

Lusanga was charged with risk of injury to a child. She was released on a $1,000 bond to appear June 17 in Waterbury Superior Court.
