Police charge man with sexual assault

NAUGATUCK — Police have charged a 40-year-old man with multiple crimes as the result of an investigation into a sexual assault complaint.

Police arrested James R. Aho, of 43 Powder Mill Road, Stratford, on Oct. 4 on two warrants that stemmed from a complaint made on Aug. 6. Aho is accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile, who is known to him, according to police.

According to information on the state’s Judicial Branch’s website, the dates of the offenses Aho is accused of range from 2012 to 2016. Police charged Aho with multiple counts of first-degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16, fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to child, and one count of second-degree strangulation.

Aho was arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court on Oct. 5. He was held on bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 17.
