NAUGATUCK — Police arrested a man suspected of breaking into the Polish American Club Wednesday.

At about 2:15 a.m. officers responded to the club at 199 Bridge St. to investigate a burglar alarm, according to police.

Police found 19-year-old Joseph Amaral inside the fenced-in facility and detained him. Police said Amaral entered the club through a window, which he damaged. Officers also found a bag concealed in the area that contained burglary tools, police said.

Amaral was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespassing.

Amaral has multiple charges pending in connection to three separate burglaries last April and May.

Amaral was arraigned on the latest charges Wednesday in Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $25,000 bond, according to online judicial records. He is scheduled to appear in court again on April 4.
