NAUGATUCK — A 59-year-old New York man was arrested after police said he had several graphic, sexual conversations with a detective who was posing as a 14-year-old girl online.
Moses Kahn, of Forest Hills, N.Y., also mailed a webcam to the detective, still believing he was a teenage girl, according to Kahn’s arrest warrant. During several online conversations, police say that Kahn exposed his genitals on a webcam to Det. Ron Blanchard of Naugatuck Police Department and performed a sex act while on camera. Using the online screen name of “Memorable 298,” police claim Kahn chatted with Blanchard on at least eight occasions in February and March.
At one point during the conversations, police claim that Kahn offered to send a webcam to the “girl” for her to use during the chat, asking her to pose naked. Police provided Kahn with a false name for the shipment and eventually received the device using a post office box, according to his arrest warrant.
Blanchard obtained a phone number during the chats, which police traced through phone records to Kahn. Blanchard stated in the arrest warrant that he recorded the web conversations that showed Kahn committing a sex act.
Kahn listed his occupation as a print broker, but told Blanchard during the online chats that he owned a printing company in New York City and lived in Greenwich.
Borough police secured a warrant for Kahn, who lives at 72-15 Dane Place in Forest Hills, a neighborhood in Queens. Kahn, who is married with no children, was charged with eight counts of criminal attempt at risk of injury to a minor and criminal attempt at promoting a minor in an obscene performance.
He was arrested in New York, but was transported to Connecticut Tuesday. He appeared in Waterbury Superior Court on Wednesday, where a judge set his bond at $75,000. He’s due back in court July 11.
