NAUGATUCK — A Prospect man is facing multiple charges in connection with a late-night police chase in September.

Keith Dwy, 39 of 215 Straitsville Road, turned himself in on a warrant Tuesday for a Sept. 6 incident in which police said he led officers on a high-speed pursuit through borough streets.

According to police, at about 12:15 a.m. on Sept. 6 an officer spotted a red Dodge Ram pickup truck, with a license plate reported stolen out of Waterbury, speeding and crossing the center line on Candee Road. Police said Dwy initially pulled over on Kingswood Drive but before the officer could reach the truck, Dwy drove off across a lawn and sprayed dirt and debris onto the cruiser.

Dwy then led police on a chase on New Haven Road, Beacon Valley Road, and Cotton Hollow Road. During the chase, police said, Dwy forced two other police cruisers off the road.

Eventually, Dwy made his way to the Route 8 North onramp at Exit 25 where police said he veered off the road and struck a cruiser as he drove back onto the highway.

Police called off the pursuit near the Waterbury town line. Police said Dwy was identified as the driver following an investigation into the chase.

Police spokesman Lt. Robert Harrison couldn’t be reached for further details as of this post.

Dwy was charged with criminal attempt at assault on an officer, reckless endangerment in the second degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, theft of motor vehicle plate, engaging police in a pursuit, and reckless driving. He was given a court date of Oct. 26 and released on a $7,500 surety bond.
