NAUGATUCK—The Phoenix Stage Company will hold open auditions for its production of “The Last Five Years” by Jason Robert Brown.

The company is seeking one man and one woman for each cast in this production. All auditioning will be expected to sing from “The Last Five Years.” A brief cold reading from another work may also be required.

“The Last Five Years” is a contemporary song-cycle musical that chronicles the five year life of a marriage, from meeting to break-up … or from break-up to meeting, depending on how you look at it.

The company is seeking actors and actresses for the roles of “Jamie,” a Broadway pop baritenor, in his 20s to 30s, who goes from sheer bliss to despondency during the course of the play, and “Cathy” a strong belt/mix character, in her 20s to 30s, who goes from utterly shattered to total youthful exuberance by the end of the play.

Auditions will be held April 10 by appointment only beginning at 1 p.m.

Callbacks will be held on Sunday, April 10 at 4 p.m. depending on how many performers audition. If the turnout is large, callbacks will be held on April 15 at 7 p.m.

The show will be performed in June.
