NaugyTownHall2NAUGATUCK — Personal property declaration forms must be returned to the assessor’s office by Nov. 1.

Forms and instructions for taxable property owned as of Oct. 1, 2013 have been mailed out by the office to owners of personal property. Failure to submit declarations will result in a 25-percent penalty. Anyone who hasn’t received the forms yet should contact the Assessor’s Office in order to avoid a penalty charge. Forms are located on the assessor’s website.

Taxable personal property includes unregistered motor vehicles; personal property in professional, commercial or business operations; aircraft; machinery; livestock; commercial furniture, fixtures and equipment; farm machinery and tools.

Owners of real property are not required to file, nor are owners of vehicles if they are licensed by the state. For more information, call the assessor’s office at (203) 720-7016.
