CNLogo1BEACON FALLS — The Lions Club will donate slightly more than $770 that it received from parking cars at Tuesday’s football game at Woodland Regional High School to benefit a local man in need, members said.

Instead of charging $5 for parking, the club asked everyone to donate $10, Lions member Bill Mis said. The club raised $773, he said.

All money will be used to help resident Marty Smith, who has cancer and needs help to cover the cost of his cancer medication, he said. Mis said the Beagle Club agreed to donate their share of the funds to Smith.

“I was very touched by the generosity of the people,” Mis said.

No one complained about the increased parking fee, and a former Woodland football player donated $50, he said.
