Park Pals has reached its first goal in its quest to ensure the annual Beacon Falls Family Day goes on as normal this year.

Park Pals, a charitable Beacon Falls organization founded with the purpose of providing more recreational opportunities to residents, announced that it has raised enough money to pay for the down payment for fireworks for the Family Day.

Due to budget constraints, the town cut funding for the annual celebration last year. Park Pals stepped forward to raise the money itself to pay for the summer celebration.

“We’re trying to keep it alive,” Park Pals member Angelo DiRubba said.

While the group has met its first goal, it is need of more support.

The groups next fundraiser will run in connection with the Naugatuck Duck Race. Tickets for the race are $5 and half of the proceeds of some tickets sold will go to help Park Pals raise money for the Family Day.

Ticekts, which will benefit the fireworks, can be bought at Subway, Antonio’s, Beacon Falls Bakery, Beacon Falls Pharmacy, Beacon Falls Market and The Full Harvest.

Tickets go on sale April 12 and sales go through May 24.

Anyone interested in making a donation can make checks payable to Park Pals and send them to Park Pals, 10 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls CT, 06403.
