NAUGATUCK — Police charged a borough woman and a Waterbury man with causing a disturbance in the Naugatuck Police Department parking lot Monday, which an officer was injured investigating.

Emily Love, 18, of 122 High St., was arguing in a car with Andrice Savage, 24, of 121 Downes St. when Savage got out of the car, according to a police release. With the passenger door still open, Love accelerated forward, causing the door to hit Savage, according to police.

Dispatchers watching surveillance video saw the incident as it was happening and alerted Officer Nicholas Kehoss. Love drove away when she saw the officer approach, and Kehoss injured his ankle running down a steep embankment after the car. Kehoss was taken to Waterbury Hospital, unable to stand.

Police did not detail Wednesday the extent of Kehoss’ injuries, or whether Savage was injured. Love and Savage were both charged with breach of peace and Love was also charged with first-degree reckless endangerment. They were released on $1,000 bonds to appear Aug. 14 in Waterbury Superior Court.
