Online challenge gives locally

The Connecticut Community Foundation’s 3rd annual online giving challenge will kick off May 5.

Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills is a 36-hour online community giving challenge to support nonprofit organizations within the foundation’s 21-town service area, which includes Beacon Falls, Naugatuck and Prospect. The challenge runs from 7 a.m. May 5 through 7 p.m. May 6.

One hundred and fifty-seven nonprofit organizations have registered for the challenge, including many local organizations. Local organizations participating include, Friends of the Beacon Falls Library, Guardian Ad Litem Services, Hidden Acres Therapeutic Riding Center, Howard Whittemore Memorial Library, Jane Doe No More, Naugatuck Community Choir, Naugatuck Education Foundation, Naugatuck Historical Society, Naugatuck River Revival Group, Naugatuck YMCA and Naugatuck Youth Services.

Donations can be made during the challenge online at www.GiveLocalCCF.org. All donations will be enhanced by nearly $100,000 in bonus funds, which will be divided among the participating nonprofits in proportion to their share of the dollars raised. In addition, nonprofits will be eligible for over $50,000 in cash prizes.
