NHSNAUGATUCK — As the day for shovels to break ground on the $81 million Naugatuck High School renovation project draws nearer, officials have developed a phasing plan for the work to keep the construction separated from students and staff while school is in session.

Groundbreaking on the project is scheduled for April 2 and construction is expected to take 30 months to complete. The work will be done in five phases. During construction some high school classes will be assigned to temporary classrooms elsewhere in the building, according to a release issued by the high school. Arrangements are also being made to use athletic fields in nearby towns while the fields at the high school are under construction.

An informational meeting to present how the phasing will occur along with what accommodations and precautions are being taken is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 in the high school’s media center. The meeting is expected to last an hour to an hour and a half and will include time for the public to ask questions.
