NAUGATUCK — William R. Allen, Sr. 67, passed away suddenly in his home on March 29, 2014. Known and loved as Bill or Pop.

Bill was born on Dec. 9, 1946 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Horace and Lillian Allen. He is predeceased by a brother Harold Allen. Bill recently retired from Stop & Shop but was probably best known for his lifelong work as a painter. Many homes were forever changed thanks to Bill’s special touches.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Theresa Perri, Betty Szilvasy, Barbara Pecor and her husband Michael, and Billie Joe Dunford; his sons, William R. Allen Jr., and Brian Allen; his sisters, Marlene Ferko and Cheryl Dickinson; brothers, Ronald Allen and James Allen. Pop will also be missed by his 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pop loved spoiling his many “grand-puppies and kitties,” who always enjoyed his visits.

A gathering of the family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. The family would appreciate those who wish, to share stories in honor of Bill. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
