William Dermody Jr.

MIDDLEBURY — William Dermody, Jr., 79, husband of the late Cheryl (Levine) Dermody, died peacefully on Aug. 18, 2018 at Live Well, Connecticut in Plantsville.

Bill was born on June 24, 1939 in Waterbury, son of the late William and Ellen (Kemes) Dermody, and had lived in Middlebury most of his life. Bill worked for many years as a draftsman and drafting supervisor for Tech Systems. He also taught drafting classes at the Porter & Chester Institute. Bill was a U.S Army veteran and a parishioner of St. John of the Cross Church. He was an active member of the B.P.O. Elks, Naugatuck and Waterbury Lodges for many years, as well as past Exalted Ruler of Naugatuck Lodge 967.

Bill is survived by three daughters, Doreen Krokosky and husband, Ray; Maureen Bain and husband, Jim; Kellie Weygant and husband, Kris; his seven grandchildren; and his sisters, Loretta Phelan and Fran Lorenze.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West St., Middlebury. Everyone is kindly asked to go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Lake Elise Cemetery in Middlebury. Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
