Obituary: Thomas George Pohorilak

NAUGATUCK — Thomas George Pohorilak, 77, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully at Glendale Health Center on Sunday, April 17, 2016. He husband of the late Kathryn Pohorilak.

Mr. Pohorilak was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on October 10, 1938, son of the late George and Elizabeth Pohorilak.

Thomas had a lifelong career in the commercial printing industry and at one time owned his own print shop. He served on the Naugatuck Zoning Board of Appeals. Tom also served in the National Guard from 1954 to 1956 and then served from 1956 to 1959 in the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Pohorilak is survived by two sons, David and Michael both of Naugatuck; his brother, George J. Pohorilak and his wife Peggy of Southington; a sister, Margaret McDonough and her husband William of West Haven; and his longtime companion, Patricia Silva of Naugatuck. He has three grandchildren, Sara, Anthony and Emily Pohorilak, and several nephews and a niece.

The funeral was held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Hedwig’s Church, Golden Hill Street, Naugatuck, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial followed in St. James Cemetery with full military honors.
