Obituary: Solomon Misak Aordkian

SOUTHBURY — Dr. Solomon Misak Aordkian, 85, the husband of Sheila (Morotto) Aordkian, died peacefully on Oct. 5, 2016.

Dr. Aordkian was born on Feb. 7, 1931 in Bridgeport, a son of the late Misak and Satenig (Dinihanian) Aordkian. He graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1948 and from the Chiropractic Institute of New York in 1957. Dr. Aordkian was a well-known and respected chiropractor, having practiced in Naugatuck for 49 years. He was a proud United States Navy veteran, who served his country during the Korean Conflict. In his beloved hometown of Naugatuck, known as “Doc,” Sol supported all things Naugy. He was involved in many community organizations, including Junior Acheivement, Gideons, Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce and Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship. He was honored as Man of the Year with the Lewis A. Dibble, Sr. Award by the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce. He was a pillar of faith and loved the Lord.

In addition to his loving wife Sheila of 55 years, Sol is survived by his sons, Todd Aordkian and his wife, Josephine, David Aordkian and his wife, Heather; his daughters, Alesa Aordkian and Jill Aordkian; his grandchildren, Anna, Ava, Gabriella and Michael; his nieces, Barbara Singleton, Susan Satter and Nancy Pelaez; and sister-in-law Barbara Aordkian. Sol was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Peter Aordkian.

A special thanks to the team of doctors and nurses who oversaw Sol’s care. They include Sol’s doctors, Dr. Sina Raissi, Dr. Ehsan Ansari, the Davita Dialysis Center of Waterbury and the medical team at St. Mary’s Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, 10 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 1505 West Street, Southington. Burial will follow at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Sol’s family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, CT.
