WATERBURY— Ruth M. Wilcox, 96, of Waterbury passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Dec. 15.

Mrs. Wilcox was born Jan. 10, 1920 in Naugatuck, daughter of Frank and Anna Spray. She was raised in Naugatuck, was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and Bay Path University in Massachusetts. In the few years that followed she was a secretary at Chase Brass and Copper Company, Waterbury.

On Nov. 20, 1941 she married her high school sweetheart, George N. Wilcox (deceased). She worked as a secretary in their companies while raising their six children. Ruth and George owned George N. Wilcox Co, Inc. and were co-owners in Show-Pak, Inc. with their son Donald G. Wilcox (deceased).

She is survived by her children, Richard F. Wilcox of New York City, Nancy A. Wallin and her husband, Robert Wallin, of Watertown, Joan T. Terrenzi of Naugatuck, Kathleen R. Blanton and John Romero of San Diego, Calif., and Gary R. Wilcox of Wilmington, N.C. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends may greet Ruth’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., Naugatuck on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at 9 until 10:15 a.m. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St., Waterbury. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
