PROSPECT — Mr. Roland Guy Cyr, 70, of Prospect, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. He was the loving husband of Monique R. (Bedard) Cyr.

Mr. Cyr was born in St. Basile, New Brunswick, Canada on Feb. 16, 1945 a son of the late Abel and Anita (Migneault) Cyr. He was retired as a siding contractor and owner of Cyr Associates in Prospect, was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect and a member of the French Club in New Britain.

Mr. Cyr proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2075 in Prospect. Mr. Cyr was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved God, his French Canadian heritage, driving his RV, and spending time playing pickleball and doing sudoku.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cyr is survived by four sons, Silven Cyr and his fiancée, Amy Fauteux, of Prospect, Danny Cyr of Prospect, Rickey Cyr of New London and Jeffrey Cyr and his wife, Rosemary, of Prospect; a daughter, Monica Cyr of Norwich, nine brothers and sisters, 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will be in Prospect Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
