PROSPECT — Roger David Allen, 85, of Prospect, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Virginia (Gazarian) Allen for over 61 years.
He was born in Waterbury on Jan. 24, 1932, son of the late Ella Allen. Roger was a master carpenter and worked for 24 years at Waterbury Hospital. He was a lifelong member of the Prospect Fire Department, served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was president of the Prospect Cemetery Association for over 20 years.
Besides his wife, Roger is survived by his children, Terri-Lynn Bernardo of Prospect, Bob Allen and wife, Lyn, of Prospect, Tammi Milius and husband, Bob, of Thomaston, and Randy Allen and wife, Karen, of Prospect; five grandchildren, Christopher Laliberte of NYC, Michael Milius of Thomaston, Jarrett Allen of Prospect, Amanda Bernardo of Prospect, Alexa Milius of Thomaston, along with a sister-in-law, Tory Radwick, a niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Kevin Arthur Allen, and a son-in-law, R. Phillip Stanley.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at the Prospect Congregational Church. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.
