PROSPECT — Mr. Robert A. Van Delft, 80, of Prospect, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at the Mid State Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of the late Helen Marie (Dujmovich) Van Delft.

Mr. Van Delft was born in Naugatuck on March 15, 1934 a son of the late Andrew and Freda (Zehnder) Van Delft. He was retired as a licensed plumber and owner of Van Delft Plumbing in Prospect and was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. He enjoyed fishing and going to the casino with his best friend Jack.

Mr. Van Delft proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

Mr. Van Delft is survived by son, Michael Van Delft and his wife, Brenda, of Terryville; daughter, Vicki Van Delft of Prospect; son, David Van Delft and his wife, Denise, of Prospect; sister, Lois Van Delft of Rhode Island; eight grandchildren, Shane LaVine and Melissa Johnson, Kristin and James Grace, and David, Dylan, Justin and Leah Van Delft, three great-grandchildren, Zia, Kaliope and Alexander and several nieces and nephews and his companion, Jean Ladopoulos. He was predeceased by three daughters, Terri Van Delft, Lori Van Delft-Gold and Stacie Van Delft and a sister, Gloria Van Delft-Konwerski.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Saturday November 22, 2014 from 9 to 10 a.m.
