Obituary: Rita P. Laraway

NAUGATUCK — Rita P. Laraway, 96, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of the late Harold A. Laraway.

Mrs. Laraway was born March 30, 1922 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Victor and Bernedette (Mathieu) Poulin. She was a lifelong Naugatuck resident, who worked at various manufacturing companies including Lewis Engineering, Bristol Company, and Naugatuck Glass. After her retirement, she looked after many of the neighborhood children. She was a strong supporter of the Naugatuck Fife and Drum.

Mrs. Laraway is survived by her son, Gary Laraway and his wife, Gayle; her daughters, Rita-Ann Laraway and Linda Demkar and her husband, John; her grandchildren, Ryan Demkar, Mark and Michael Laraway. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Felix and Francis Poulin; as well as her sisters, Irene Lawson and Helen Clemente.

The Laraway family would like to thank Michael and Desirae form VNA Health at Home and Donna, Marybeth and Jasmine from Seasons Hospice for their care and compassion.

Visitation for Mrs. Laraway will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 until 10 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. A funeral service will follow visitation at 10 a.m. with burial following in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury.
