NAUGATUCK — Richard S. Gawronski, 67, husband of Anita M. (Lipowski) Gawronski, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at his home.

Richard was born on Oct. 7, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Stanley and Veronica (Borek) Gawronski. He spent his younger years in Pennsylvania, and graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia and later received his bachelor degree. Rich loved music, and was an accomplished musician, accordion player, and played in his own band. He was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church.

Besides his beloved wife Anita of 30 years, he is survived by his brother, John J. Gawronski; his father-in-law, Walter Lipowski; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Lipowski and his wife Margaret; his nieces, Michele and her husband John, Becky and her husband Chris, Trisha and her husband Will; and his nephew, Mitchell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Following the internment, all are invited to a reception and musical tribute at the Continental Room, 1007 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck.
