BEACON FALLS — Mildred M. (Proch) Jurzynski, 84, beloved wife of Raymond Jurzynski Sr., passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.

She was born in Seymour on Jan. 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Proch. Millie was a graduate of Seymour High School, Class of 1950, and was active on many reunion committees. A longtime Beacon Falls resident, she served as tax collector for the town and was a member of the Democratic Town Committee. Millie was a member of the original Laurel Ledge PTA, where she served as president. Millie also worked in the Laurel Ledge School cafeteria preparing and serving lunch.

For many years, Millie was co-owner of the Fashion Gallery in Seymour. She was also a longtime rental office manager of Beacon Mill Village in Beacon Falls. Millie was a member of St. Michael’s Church, where she was active in the Ladies Guild organizing and participating in many church events, the choir, and was church organist for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and cake decorating, and playing cards with friends.

Millie cherished her role as the matriarch of a large, local family. Over the years, her and Ray’s home was lovingly treated as a gathering place for family and friends. Millie was always a generous host, from annual summer pool parties complete with never-ending popsicles for the kids, to Christmas Eve celebrations with homemade pierogis.

Besides her husband Ray of 64 years, she is survived by her children, Richard Jurzynski and his wife, Mary Jane, of Plano, Texas, Kathleen Conroy and her husband, Edward, of Bantam, Jeffrey Jurzynski and his wife, Sharon, of Beacon Falls, Raymond Jurzynski Jr. of Beacon Falls, and Christopher Jurzynski and his wife, Cynthia, of Beacon Falls; her brother, John Proch and his wife, Phyllis, of Seymour, daughter-in-law, Helen Ann Jurzynski of Beacon Falls, many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Dolores and Jackie. Millie was predeceased by 11 of her 12 brothers and sisters. Additionally, she will be missed by her grandchildren, Sarah Jurzynski
and Matthew Sachs of Richmond, Va., Martha and Ian Kalman of San Francisco, Calif., Ryan Conroy and Kerry Durkin of Washington, Abby Conroy of Bantam, Jennifer Jurzynski Rowland and her husband, Edward, of Seymour, Emily Jurzynski of Oxford, Jeffrey Jurzynski and Casey Hurlburt of Oxford, Courtney Jurzynski and Connor Jurzynski of Beacon Falls and great-grandson, Jasper Sachs of Richmond, Va.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
