NAUGATUCK — Mary Catherine (Lokites) Hicock, 87, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.
Born in Waterbury on Aug. 5, 1930 to the late Richard and Mary (Sperauskas) Lokites, she had been a lifelong Naugatuck resident.
Mary graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1951 and was very proud of her career as a registered nurse. She was an active member of the St. Mary’s Alumni Association until her retirement. She also enjoyed spending time at her family’s summer home in the Adirondacks. In her retirement, Mary started a second career as the in-house “grandma” for the neighborhood daycare. The highlight of her day was caring for her “adopted” grandchildren, Vinny, Paige, McKenzie, Gianna and Brooklyn.
Mary is survived by her son, Brian Hicock of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home; son, William Hicock of Newtown; grandson, Jacob Hicock and his wife, Jessica, of Naugatuck; granddaughter, Melissa Hicock of NYC; and two great-grandsons, Damon and Wyld Hicock of Naugatuck. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Hicock, and two sons, Martin C. Hicock and Kenneth J. Hicock.
Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Peter, Noelle, JoMarie and Georgette for their loving care and for treating her as their own. They would also like to express their appreciation to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS for their compassion and exceptional care.
Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
