SEYMOUR — Lucille (Rau) Kogut, 86, widow of Edward G. Kogut, passed away on Monday June 19, 2017 at Griffin Hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Kogut was born in Waterbury on Sept. 27, 1930, daughter of the late George and Alice Mae (Classey) Rau. Lucy was a graduate of Seymour High School and a longtime resident of Seymour. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker who had a wide variety of craft skills, including crocheting, needlepoint, and others. Lucy was an avid traveler, visiting many European countries and a frequent visitor for the winter months to Hilton Head Island. She enjoyed her Friday night get together with her local Hilton Head crew for Friday night pizza.

Lucy was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church, and a long-time member of the church’s Ladies Guild, helping to set up a scholarship program for the church youth.

She is survived by her three sons, Thomas E. Kogut of Packwood, Wash., Robert M. Kogut and Michael D. Kogut, both of Seymour; her sister, Margaret Rau Smith of Beacon Falls; her four granddaughters, Aubrey Lynn Kogut, Megan Lee Kogut, Casey Marie Kogut, and Allison Mae Kogut; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Beacon Falls. Burial will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck.
