NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Lois Ann (Burgio) Porter, 73, of Naugatuck passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.

Lois was born Oct. 8, 1941 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Joseph and Michaelina (Ciriello) Burgio. Prior to her retirement Lois worked as a residential counselor at Old Good Hill Residential Center in Oxford. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Naugatuck where she also taught Sunday School for many years. Lois was a truly loving woman and the world was a better place with her in it.

Lois is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Plude and her husband, Jeffrey, of Naugatuck, and two sons, Raymond Demers, of Thomaston, Michael J. Demers, of New London; two sisters, Patricia Woznikaitis and her husband, Wayne, of Waterbury and Deborah Lucarelli and her spouse, Marci Keller, of Waterbury; five grandchildren, Courtney Demers, Nicholas Demers, Stephanie Ruby, Michael Demers, Matthew Demers; and her “precious” great-granddaughter, Delilah and several nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by her dog, Sparky and her cat, Storm She was predeceased by her daughter, Melissa Porter; brother, Joseph Burgio and her former Husband, Gary Porter.

A celebration of Lois’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at 4 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 210 Church St., Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
