Lawrence R. Bainer Sr.

NAUGATUCK — Lawrence R. Bainer Sr., 86, husband for the past 65 years of Jeanne (Blazuk) Bainer, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 9, 2018 in the VITAS
Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Larry was born on April 28, 1932 in Waterbury, son of the late Lawrence E. and Estelle (Kalinoski) Bainer, and had lived in Naugatuck for the past 65 years. He was a proud U.S. Air
Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 17 for 31 years. Larry retired from Eyelamatic Manufacturing Co. after 35 years and then worked for the
Town of Woodbury for 18 years driving the senior bus; he also drove limousines for Expressway Auto.

In addition to his wife Jeanne, he is survived by his daughter, Susan Stupak; his sons, Lawrence R. Bainer Jr. and Thomas W. Bainer and his wife, Theresa; his grandchildren, Christopher Stupak, Amelia Bainer, Aaron Bainer and Joshua Bainer; his sisters, Judy Nelson and her companion, Peter Santarpia; Dianne Caruso and her husband, Ray; his sister-in-law, Theresa Bainer; his uncle, Raymond Kalinoski, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard Bainer and Frank Bainer, and brother-in-law, Bruce Nelson, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West St., Middlebury. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Friday from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m.
