Katherine (Katie) Kostick-Wells, of Seymour/Naugatuck, passed peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 26 accompanied by loving family. Katie was born to the late Irene and John P. Kostick in Seymour. Katie was devoted to family and to creating “Happy Thoughts!”

Katie was renowned for her love of life and bring joy to all those around her including her love for animals. Everyone who crossed her path called her “Truly Genuine.”

She is survived by her sister, Theodora (Teddy) Gagnon, and was the sister of her late siblings, John Kostick and Irene Cox. Katie successfully raised her daughter, Cynthia Wells-Priest before settling into the role of loving grandmother to her charming grandsons, Brandon and Arthur, and delightful granddaughter, Ashley Irene.

Kate graduated top of her class, from Seymour High School’s Class of 1967. Katie was employed by the late Carpenter Steel of Bridgeport and Schick in Milford. She was a gifted singer for the house band at the Raven in Stafford, Local Yacht Clubs singing and bringing great happiness to countless weddings and parties. On the weekends, she continued making warm memories for thousands, as she’d interact with selling from her family’s booths at fairs across several states.

She was a founding member of her grandchildren’s Naugatuck Green/Maple Hill School fundraiser known as Fun Day, which featured family-friendly carnival games created by her family to bring great happiness to all ages making sure everybody wins as she wished all good luck.

She never said – Good Bye ~ “I Love You, Good Luck” ~ Please join us in celebrating my mom’s love of life.

Calling hours are Monday, March 20 from 5 to7 p.m. at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Services are private and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
