Julia (Waranowicz) Dayner

NAUGATUCK — Julia (Waranowicz) Dayner, 98, widow of John Joseph Dayner, passed away at her home on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018.

She was born in Union City on Jan. 28, 1920, daughter of the late Thaddeus and Amelia (Ostapiec) Waranowicz. A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, she was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, Class of 1937. Julia retired from Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, and had also worked as secretary at the Footwear Division of Uniroyal and Peter Paul Company. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Naugatuck Women’s Club and Friendship Club, as well as a member of the Catholic Council of Women. Julia was also a member of the Children of Mary at St. Hedwig Church for many years.

She is survived by her son, John Edward Dayner and his spouse, Judith, of Fripp Island, S.C.; her daughters, Patricia Dayner of Naugatuck, Judith Dayner and her spouse, Deborah, of South Glastonbury and Kathleen Edmondson and her spouse, Charles, of Watertown; her five grandchildren, Jeremy Dayner, M.D. of Pennington, N.J., Jennifer Crotty, M.D. of Winterville, N.C., Zachary Dayner and Olivia Dayner both of South Glastonbury, and Megan Edmondson of Watertown; and her four great-grandchildren, Bradley Dayner and Kate Dayner both of Pennington, N.J., and Samantha Crotty and Madeline Crotty both of Winterville, N.C. Julia was
predeceased by her infant daughter Caroline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at 12 p.m. at St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.
