NAUGATUCK — Joseph P. Connelly, 92, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Nov. 12, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Mildred (Pekrul) Connelly.

Joseph was born Oct. 6, 1926 in Waterbury, a son of the late Patrick Joseph and Teresa (Dunning) Connelly. He grew up in Naugatuck where he attended local schools. Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed as a foundry worker at the former Century Brass in Waterbury. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in World War II in the South Pacific and in the Korean War, where he was wounded in action. He was the recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Joseph found his greatest joy spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his loving wife of 68 years, he leaves his son, Joseph Connelly and his wife, Dawn, of New Hartford; his daughters, Millie Marie Musco and her husband, Pasquale, of Waterbury, Karen Solocius and her husband, Gregory, of Wolcott; his grandchildren, Daniel Connelly, Cheryl Connelly, Diana Bray, Joseph Solocius, Laura Zimmermann, Jaclyn Kinney; his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Chase, Ethan, Ella, Abbott, Josie, Jack, Dillon, Cathryn; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Roy, John and Charles Connelly; and two sisters, Ruth Sweeney and Dorothy Connelly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Anne’s Church, 515 South Main St., Waterbury. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury is assisting his family with arrangements.
