John Kenneth Burr Jr.

TRUMBULL — John “Jack” Kenneth Burr, Jr., 78 of Trumbull, died peacefully on Jan. 3, 2017, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Burr was born in Bridgeport on June 17, 1938, son of the late John K. Sr. and Margaret Damm Burr.

A graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School, Mr. Burr was a longtime resident of Trumbull and worked for the Trumbull Parks Dept. for 19 years until his retirement in 2004. He was an honorary member of the Long Hill Fire Dept., was an avid bowler and bowled in several area tournaments. At peace in the outdoors, Mr. Burr enjoyed gardening, fishing and tending to his bird feeders for his feathered friends. He will be remembered for the special bond he shared with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, his ability to eat hot peppers and his staple of a wee nip of Fleishmann’s.

Mr. Burr is survived by his beloved sister, Judy B. Walker (with whom he resided) of Trumbull; nephews he considered sons, Kenny (Jill) Walker of Fairfield and Scott (Jean) Walker of Derby; and the niece he considered a daughter, Robin (Bob) Fazekas of Shelton; cherished great-nieces of whom he was so proud, Katy (Lou) Follo of Stratford, Jenny and Lexi Walker of Derby; a new great-great nephew, Elliot Follo, and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Drown; a niece, Sandy Christensen; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Walker.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Jean Walker of Naugatuck for her compassionate care and assistance throughout their uncle’s time of need.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. Private interment will take place in Cutlers Farm Cemetery, Monroe. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., prior to the service.
