John C. Swasey Jr.

NAUGATUCK — John C. Swasey, Jr., 62, husband of Nancy (Triano) Swasey, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Waterbury on June 2, 1955, son of the late John C. Swasey, Sr., and Mary (Sullivan) Swasey. John was a graduate of Holy Cross High School, attended Post College, and resided with his family in Naugatuck for the past 25 years. He was a devout Catholic and enjoyed many visits to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass. He was a parishioner of St. Vincent Ferrer Church where he sang in the church choir. John was an avid musician, golfer and gardener. He was also a huge fan of the New York Mets and Green Bay Packers. John was always willing to put his friends and family first before himself.

Besides his loving wife, Nancy, he leaves his sons, John E. Swasey and his wife, Brittany, of Middletown, and Christopher D. Swasey of Naugatuck.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven for the kind and compassionate care given to John during his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06520.
