PROSPECT — Mrs. Joan (Stieler) Robinson, 80, of Prospect, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 while traveling on vacation to Mackinaw Island. She was the wife, for nearly 60 years, of Robert Kenneth Robinson.

Mrs. Robinson was born in Waterbury on March 11, 1935 a daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Donovan) Stieler. She was a lifelong resident of Prospect, was retired from Regional School District 16 where she had worked for 28 years as a cook at Community School and was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. She was a member of the Prospect Senior Center, AARP, was an avid New York Yankees and Derek Jeter fan and UConn women’s basketball fan. Joan enjoyed laying out in the sun by her pool or at the beach, playing Rummy, loved bird watching, especially her Gold Finches in her back yard, walking with her friends at the Brass Mill Mall and running a lottery pool for them, socializing with her friends in the evening at Dunkin Donuts. She lived for her family and enjoyed life to its fullest.

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by two daughters, Diane (Robinson) Giordano and her husband John of Wolcott and Doreen Ironson of Prospect; four grandchildren, Chris, Bobby, Brianne and Jenna; a sister, Beverly Russo of Middlebury and several nieces and nephews including Michael and Kim Robinson of North Providence, R.I.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
