Obituary: Helen Frances (Purkoski) Tucker



OXFORD — Helen Frances (Purkoski) Tucker, of Oxford, went to be with Our Lord and her beloved husband, William A. Tucker, peacefully on Aug. 10, 2015 at St. Mary Hospital in Waterbury.

Helen is survived by her two sons, three daughters-in-law and her four grandchildren.

As a child, Helen was in the Children of Mary at St. Hedwig in Union City. She graduated from Naugatuck High School and Bullard Haven Technical School where she studied fashion design and tailoring. Helen was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle in Oxford where she also taught CCD for many years. A lifelong artist, gardener and seamstress, Helen created many pictures, gardens, wedding gowns, suits and quilts. She will be greatly missed by her entire family.

A funeral service in celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Friday, Aug. 14 at 9:15 a.m. in the chapel of The Miller Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., Seymour, with A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Oxford. Interment in the family plot will be at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday morning prior to the service from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m.
