SEYMOUR — Gwendolyn B. Hoyt, 89, of Seymour, the beloved wife of 66 years to Franklin A. Hoyt, entered into rest peacefully on Aug. 11, 2016 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Seymour on Dec. 19, 1926, daughter of the late Henry and Anna Shaw Benham.

Gwen was an avid homemaker who loved knitting, sewing and crocheting. She was a very active volunteer for her church, enjoyed going to craft shows with her friends, and traveling with her late husband, especially around New England. Most of all, Gwen loved spending time with her family and many friends and will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts.

Her loving family includes her daughter, Pamela H. Waldron of Seymour; her daughter-in-law, Alexandra Hoyt of Montana; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Justin) Clymer of Iowa, Amy (Howard) Hennessey of Colorado, Lisa (Robert) Reynolds of Beacon Falls, Howard D. Waldron, III of Connecticut, Christine DuFour of Pennsylvania, Wayne M. Hoyt of Florida, Jonathon (Leah) Hoyt of Montana, Christopher (Amanda) Hoyt of Arkansas, Wayne Oliver Hoyt of Montana, Christine Hoyt Dufour of Pennsylvania and Wayne M. Hoyt of Florida; her brother, Milton (Vivian) Benham of Shelton; and her 14 cherished great-grandchildren. Gwen was predeceased by her son, Wayne Franklin Hoyt; and her sister, Bernadine (Harold) Hickman.

A Memorial Service in Celebration of Gwendolyn’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at noon. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
