SEYMOUR — Grace Mabee Seyler, 97, of Seymour, formerly of Oxford, the beloved wife of the late Wendel J. Seyler, Sr., entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Shady Knoll Health Center, Seymour. She was born in Edenville, N.Y. on April 3, 1918, daughter of the late Collins and Grace Sisco Mabee.
Grace was an active member of the Living Springs Christian Fellowship. She was very artistic and loved to crochet and do all kinds of handiwork. Grace’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family especially having the chance to hold her great-great-great-granddaughter. She will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts.
Grace’s loving family includes her son, Wendel J. Seyler, Jr. and his wife, Edith, of Oxford; her daughters, Ruth Chandler and her husband, Richard, of Oxford and Helen Violano and her husband, William, of Oxford, her ten cherished grandchildren, her 19 cherished great-grandchildren, her 12 great-great-grandchildren, her great-great-great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph and Frederick Mabee; her sisters, Elsie Cole, Bessie Cole, Jessie Cole, Ruth Van Kleeck and Ethel Silvernail.
A funeral service in celebration of Grace’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Living Springs Christian Fellowship, 141 Great Hill Road, Seymour with Pastor Robert Hoyt, officiating. Interment in the family plot at Southford Cemetery, Oxford, will follow. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., Seymour, on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 4 until 7 p.m.
