Obituary: Elietta (Ruby) Picanso

NAUGATUCK — Elietta (Ruby) Picanso, 85, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at Beacon Brook Health Center surrounded by family.

Elietta was born in Cerreto, Italy, on July 8, 1930 and came to America in 1951. She was the daughter of Rocco and Maria Giordano.

She retired from Heminway Corporation after 18 years of service. Elietta “Lee” loved cooking her Italian food for her family and friends. She took great pride in caring for her grandchildren and spending time with her children. She loved to laugh and looked forward to Saturday night poker with friends.

Elietta is survived by two sons, Michael Ruby and his wife Patty of Wolcott and Rolando Ruby Jr. of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; three daughters, Anna Kohl of Waterbury, Gina Frasco and her husband Michael of Hudson, N.H., and Sheila Stepeck and her husband John of Monroe, and was part of a large Italian family with seven siblings; ten grandchildren, Tanya Loughlin, Michael Ruby, Jessica Ruby, Maria Kohl, Alicia Kohl, Amanda Kohl, Shayna (Frasco) Rose, Vincent Frasco, Corey Stepeck and Samuel Stepeck; one great-grandchild, Easton Rose, and his little brother on the way. Elietta was predeceased by a daughter, Maria Loughlin; a son, Francis Ruby, and a great-grandson, Hunter Fiske.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck, for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m.
