Obituary: Eleanor Grusz Wasko

SEYMOUR — Eleanor Grusz Wasko, 91, of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Wasko, Sr., entered into eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at Griffin Hospital. She was born in Pine Island, N.Y. on May 1, 1925, daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Kalbarczyk Grusz.

Eleanor was a devout communicant of St. Augustine Church of Seymour. She was a homemaker who loved to shop and cook. Most of all, Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts.

Her loving family includes her son, Nicholas Wasko, Jr. of Ansonia; her daughters, Carole Wasko of Syracuse, N.Y., Shirley Moulton and her husband, Dennis, of Hayward, Calif., and Tammy Wasko of Naugatuck; her brothers, Mitchell Grusz, Casimir Grusz and Walter Grusz and his wife, Irene, all of Seymour; her grandchildren, Chaz, Todd, Joe, Nicole, Matthew, Margaux and Ashley; her great-grandchildren, Quinn, Alyssa, Sierra and Summer, and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine Bigert, Stasia Supranovich, Bertha Kudasik, Anna Haversat, Jennie Grusz and Florence Magaldi; and her brothers, Frank Grusz, Henry Grusz, Edward Grusz, Peter Grusz, Jr. and Joseph Grusz.

A Funeral Service in Celebration of Eleanor’s Life will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Route 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the spring. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 from 4 until 8 p.m.

Memorial gifts in Eleanor’s memory may be made to The Shady Knoll Recreation Department Fund through the funeral home.
